Outcome Statement
To ensure that children and parents experience a smooth transition to KingsGate School.

Criteria
The following criteria determine whether a child will be considered preferential or non-preferential.
Preferential Students:
To be considered a preferential student, all three points below must be met:
▶A student's parent adheres to and practices the same Christian Faith outlined in the School’s  Statement of Faith.
▶A parent is willing to attest to that faith by signing the Statement of Faith declaration.
▶A pastor or recognised church elder can provide a letter of confirmation that church attendance is a significant way the family expresses faith.
Non-Preferential Student: 
To be considered a non-preferential student, only one point below needs to be met:
▶Neither parent holds nor adheres to the same Christian faith outlined in the School Statement of Faith. The student will be classified as non-preferential.
▶Neither parent nor legal guardian of the child is willing to sign the Statement of Faith Declaration. The student will be classified as non-preferential.

Students under Oranga Tamariki Care (or other government agencies).
In all circumstances where a child is under the care of Oranga Tamariki (or another government agency), the principal will seek guidance from the agency to determine whether the Preferred or Non-Preferential criteria apply for the purposes of enrolment at KingsGate School.

Enrolment: Order of Priority
Students will be enrolled in the following order at KingsGate School:
1. Preferential Students 
All preferential students who apply to KingsGate School will be accepted for enrolment (except point b below). When a child seeking admission to KingsGate School has significant additional educational needs, the school, family, and relevant MoE specialist must agree on a process to ensure a successful transition into school life.
Preferential students cannot be enrolled once the school reaches its roll cap.
Preferential students who are not enrolled due to roll-cap limitations will be placed on the school's enrolment waiting list.
2. Non-Preferential Students
Non-preferential students can only enrol if placements remain after all preferential applicants have been enrolled.
The maximum number of places available for non-preferential students will be governed by the maximum allowable under the school's integration agreement.
When the school has met its roll-cap limitation, non-preferential students will be able to be placed on the school's enrolment waiting list.

Waiting List
KingsGate School's enrolment waiting list will be prioritised as follows:
Priority 1: All preferential students in the following order:
Siblings of preferential students already at school in order of acceptance.
All other preferential students in order of acceptance. 
Priority 2: Non-preferential students in the following order: 
Year Zero or Year One siblings of non-preferential students currently enrolled.
All other siblings of non-preferential students currently enrolled.
Year Zero or Year One siblings of former non-preferential students.
All other siblings of former non-preferential students.
Non-preferential students who have come from other Christian character schools.
All other non-preferential students in order of acceptance onto the waiting list.

Cohort Enrolment
Cohort: A group of students
Parents intending to send their children to KingsGate School are encouraged to pre-enrol their children in the year they turn four.
Parents will complete an enrolment form and provide all necessary documentation. Pre-school visits and start dates will align with the Ministry of Education Cohort Policy dates each year.
New entrants are encouraged to complete up to three morning visits before their start date.
KingsGate School adheres to the Cohort Entry Policy under the Education Amendments Act 2019.
