Puriri Years 0 - 3

In Puriri, our youngest learners begin their educational journey in a nurturing, Christ-centred environment where they are known, valued, and encouraged to flourish. Our dedicated teachers focus on helping children build strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and learning habits, believing that doing the basics well creates the platform for future success.

The Puriri tree was chosen as the symbol for this learning space because it is one of New Zealand's strongest and most enduring native trees. Even when it is young, it develops deep roots and a strong trunk that enable it to grow into a tree that provides shelter, strength, and life to others. In the same way, our Years 0–3 students are laying the foundations of their learning, character, and faith, establishing strong roots that will support their growth throughout their lives.

Developing Christian character is at the heart of all we do. Students learn and reflect on Scripture through memory verses, are encouraged to live out our school values through SERVE Points, and participate in praise and worship during assemblies. These opportunities help children grow in their understanding of God's love and their place within His story.

Just as Jesus spoke of the mustard seed growing into a great tree, we believe that small acts of faithfulness, kindness, perseverance, and learning can lead to remarkable growth over time. Our aim is to help each child take those important first steps, developing the knowledge, character, and confidence needed to become the person Christ has created them to be.
