The KingsGate School Special Character Leadership Team
At KingsGate School, our Christian Special Character is carefully nurtured and protected through the work of a dedicated team committed to ensuring that faith remains at the heart of everything we do. This team includes our Principal, who serves as the guardian of the school's Special Character, our Special Character Lead, who supports staff and students in living out our biblical worldview, and the wider support provided through the New Zealand Christian Proprietors Trust (NZCPT). Through the leadership of Mr Steve Farrand, NZCPT Community of Practice Facilitator, and Dr Jacqueline Lloyd, NZCPT Theological Advisor, KingsGate benefits from expert guidance, professional development, and connection with a network of like-minded Christian schools across New Zealand. Together, this team works to ensure that our teaching, culture, relationships, and decision-making remain authentically Christ-centred, providing parents with confidence that their children are learning in an environment where faith is intentionally nurtured, biblical truth is upheld, and students are encouraged to grow in both their relationship with God and their pursuit of excellence.

Dr Jacqueline Lloyd, PhD
Dr Jacqueline Lloyd is appointed by the New Zealand Christian Proprietors Trust (NZCPT) to provide theological leadership and guidance across all NZCPT schools, including KingsGate School. While she is not a member of the KingsGate staff, she works alongside school leaders and teachers to support the faithful implementation of the NZCPT's Special Character documents and the development of Christ-centred local curricula. Through her expertise, professional guidance, and teacher development, Dr Lloyd helps ensure that the Christian Special Character entrusted to our school remains authentic, relevant, and deeply embedded in teaching and learning.

Mr Farrand
Mr Farrand serves KingsGate School through his role with the New Zealand Christian Proprietors Trust (NZCPT), where he is employed as the Community of Practice Facilitator. Working alongside KingsGate and other NZCPT schools, Steve helps connect and strengthen Christian school leaders through collaboration, shared learning, and practical support. He partners with principals and Special Character leaders to provide guidance, resources, and opportunities for professional growth, helping schools remain faithful to their Christian mission and Special Character. Through his work, KingsGate benefits from being part of a wider network of Christian schools committed to learning from one another and growing together.

Dr Peter Maslin, PhD
At KingsGate School, our Christian Special Character is at the heart of everything we do. The Special Character Lead helps ensure that our school's faith foundation remains visible, meaningful, and woven into daily school life. They support staff in understanding and applying the Christian principles, values, and practices that shape our teaching, relationships, and decision-making.
This role also helps induct new staff into the school's Special Character framework, ensuring every teacher understands the biblical worldview and Christ-centred approach that underpin learning at KingsGate. By encouraging ongoing reflection, discussion, and growth among staff, the Special Character Lead helps strengthen the partnership between home and school as we seek to nurture students who are drawn closer to God and inspired to excellence.
For parents, this role provides confidence that KingsGate's Christian Special Character is being actively upheld, supported, and developed across all areas of school life, helping ensure that faith remains an authentic and integral part of every student's educational journey.

Mr Stein
At KingsGate School, the Principal serves as the guardian and protector of the school's Christian Special Character. This responsibility extends beyond leadership and administration, ensuring that the biblical beliefs, values, and mission that define KingsGate remain at the centre of school life.
The Principal works closely with the Board, Proprietor, staff, and wider school community to ensure that decisions, policies, teaching programmes, and relationships reflect the Christian worldview upon which the school was founded. They are responsible for fostering a culture in which faith is lived out authentically, students are encouraged to grow in their relationship with God, and learning is viewed through a Christ-centred lens.
For parents, this means having confidence that the school's Christian Special Character is not only preserved but actively strengthened, ensuring that KingsGate remains faithful to its mission of drawing students closer to God while inspiring them to pursue excellence in all areas of life.
