Priority for Senior Students
The Literacy and Numeracy Co-requisite Assessments are an important requirement for senior students working towards NCEA qualifications. For this reason, KingsGate School's first priority is to ensure that Year 11, 12, and 13 students who require these standards for NCEA have access to assessment opportunities. Any available places for Year 10 students are considered only after the assessment needs of NCEA students have been met.
Year 10 Co-Requisite Assessment Opportunities
Year 10 students at KingsGate School are not required to sit the NCEA Literacy and Numeracy Co-requisite Assessments. However, some students may be given the opportunity to attempt these assessments before they begin NCEA Level 1. Successfully completing the co-requisite assessments in Year 10 can help students prepare for NCEA Level 1 and may reduce the number of assessments they need to complete in future years. Following the release of Assessment Opportunity 1 results at the end of Term 2, Year 10 students who are considered "assessment ready" may be identified by appropriate staff and nominated for Assessment Opportunity 2. As places are limited, entry for Year 10 students is determined by several factors, including:
Being nominated for Assessment Opportunity 2 does not guarantee entry. Final decisions are made after all NZQA requirements, available assessment places, and school resourcing considerations have been taken into account.
