Policy Statement
KingsGate School aims to keep parents/caregivers and whānau fully informed about the progress and achievement of their children, and to foster positive relationships between parents/caregivers, whaanau, children, and teachers, so that there is a shared interest, concern, and responsibility for children’s progress and achievement.
Purpose
To provide an annual programme of reporting that includes three-way chats (teacher, parent/caregiver/whānau, and students) and written reports for all children. Parent/caregivers and whānau requests for additional interviews will be accommodated at a mutually agreed-upon time to discuss points of interest or concern regarding a child’s progress and achievements.
▶School reports will give a clear, accurate and precise account of a child’s progress and achievement in their abilities.
▶Progress and achievement are reported against specific learning outcomes as defined in the local curriculum.
▶School reports are based on relevant information from observations of the child’s day-to-day work and attitudes, test and survey results, data collected in assessment records, and overall teacher judgements.
▶KingsGate School will follow the regulations for reporting to parents/caregivers/whaanau as set out in the Education and Training Act 2020 https://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/public/2020/0038/latest/LMS262184.html
