Policy Statement
The Principal is the special character leader of the school and the School Board’s chief executive, working in partnership with the School Board. The Principal shall not cause or allow any practice, activity, or decision that is unethical, unlawful, imprudent, or which violates the School Board’s strategic plan, expressed values, or commonly held professional ethics. Alongside their professional role, the Principal’s key contribution to day-to-day management of the school is as defined in the management section of this governance manual. The Principal is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the School Board policy, including the strategic plan. References in the documentation to the school, management, and staff are to be interpreted as referring to the Principal for implementation responsibility. From time to time, the Presiding Member of the School Board, acting within their delegated authority, may issue directions regarding school policies, as outlined in the minutes of the School Board, or by written delegation.
