Policy Statement
The KingsGate School Board respects the dignity of every individual. Special and supported education provides extra help, adapted programmes (including individual education programmes), learning environments, or specialised equipment or materials to support ākonga with additional needs, helping them participate in education.

Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to ensure that all students with additional needs have access to opportunities that enable them to succeed. Including:
▶Appointment of a SENCO
▶Provision for high needs aakonga
▶Provision for gifted and talented aakonga
▶Supporting Special Education Grants (SEG)
▶Overseeing the appointment of Teacher Aids where needed
