Policy Statement
KingsGate School Policy: Opt-In to School Donation Scheme
KingsGate School has opted into the Ministry of Education's School Donation Scheme, as per the provisions of the Education and Training Act 2020 and Public Finance Act 1989. This decision reflects our commitment to ensuring that education is free and accessible, consistent with the principles outlined in the New Zealand education system. Under this scheme, KingsGate School will not request donations from families for curriculum delivery, school attendance, or associated core activities. Exceptions may include activities outside the scope of the standard curriculum, such as overnight camps or extracurricular programs, as permitted under the scheme's guidelines.
This opt-in decision is reviewed annually by the School Board to ensure it continues to meet the needs of our school community.
Opting into the scheme does not preclude the school’s proprietor from requesting donations for the development and provision of KingsGate School’s special character, in accordance with legislative requirements.
