Policy Statement
KingsGate School recognises its responsibility to ensure the safety of its students and staff in a Civil Defence emergency. The safety of the school's staff and students is paramount in an emergency.

Purpose
KingsGate School will follow Civil Defence guidelines and, in some cases, guidance from the Ministry of Education during an emergency response. For example, when schools can choose to close due to weather events, the needs of the local community, including transportation and the health and safety of staff and students, will be considered. Clear communications will be issued through all school channels.
