Adopted 17th June 2019
Next review date: November 2025 (Reviewed Triennially)
Policy Statement
School attendance is compulsory for New Zealand citizens and residents aged between 6 and 16. Students are required to attend whenever the school is open (see sections 36, 48, 49, and 242 of the Education and Training Act 2020). The research shows that the fewer days students are in school, the less likely they are to achieve. Missing school is not just about missing learning; it's also about all the other missed opportunities. At KingsGate School, we promote the attendance of all students in their classes every school day.
