Board Training Policy

Adopted 17th June 2019.

Reviewed March 2022.

The next review date is March 2025.

Policy Statement

Professional development will enable BOT members to understand their roles and responsibilities better and should enhance job satisfaction, lead to greater motivation and commitment to common school goals. The KingsGate School BOT will promote professional development by example.

Expectations

The BOT will identify individual and group training requirements on an annual basis. Following an election or when a vacancy on the BOT has been filled - this becomes a priority.

Provision for the funding of training is made within the budget. Consideration is to be given to ensure the training is undertaken in the most cost efficient manner.

Links will be developed with the relevant facilitator groups and neighbouring BOT’s.

Members will provide a report to the BOT on any training undertaken.

Training will take place at nominated BOT meetings organised by the chairperson and/or Principal as required.
