Policy Statement

The KingsGate School BOT will clearly establish the extent to which responsibility in the area of staffing is delegated to the Principal and clearly establish the extent to which the Principal delegates responsibility in making appointments. The BOT will also ensure the school is staffed in the best possible manner so as to achieve its strategic goals. A Proprietor representative will be involved in the process of the appointment of any permanent teaching staff, including Principal and Deputy Principal positions.

 

Specific Appointments

Principal

To be appointed by the BOT. This appointment involves the negotiation of a State Services Commission-approved employment contract.


Deputy and Assistant Principal Positions:

An appointment committee of the BOT will be responsible for shortlisting, interviewing and appointing of staff to senior leadership positions.


Positions of Responsibility:

One or more Units:


The Principal will shortlist candidates and make an appropriate appointment.


Teachers:

Appointments will be made by the Principal in consultation with the Senior Leadership Team. This includes


a. permanent, long-term relieving

b. short-term relieving


c. permanent part-time and part-time staff.


Day-Relief Teachers:

Staff will be appointed at the discretion of the SLT member responsible for the relief organisation.


Non-Teaching Positions:

Appointments will be made by the Principal. The Senior Leadership Team members and possible future Heads of Departments will be consulted as appropriate.
