Accessing Courses and Opportunities Through Te Kura
Learning does not always need to take place within the walls of a traditional classroom. Through our partnership with Te Kura, KingsGate students can access a wide range of online and distance learning opportunities that extend beyond the subjects and pathways available within our own timetable.

Te Kura offers an extensive selection of courses, including specialist subjects, languages, digital technologies, the arts, agriculture and horticulture, and a variety of pathway-focused programmes. This allows students to pursue areas of interest that may not be available on-site at KingsGate, while continuing to work towards their NCEA goals and future aspirations.

Students learn through Te Kura's online learning environment, engaging with interactive resources, virtual classes, independent learning activities, and specialist teachers from across New Zealand. This approach helps students develop valuable skills in self-management, organisation, digital communication, and independent learning—capabilities that are increasingly important for tertiary study, apprenticeships, and future employment.

Importantly, Te Kura learning is not undertaken in isolation. KingsGate works alongside students, families, and Te Kura staff to ensure programmes are well supported and aligned with each student's goals. Students remain connected to the life of the school, benefiting from ongoing pastoral care, Christian formation, and guidance as they pursue learning opportunities that may otherwise be unavailable.

Through Te Kura, students can explore new interests, access specialised subjects, and build pathways that prepare them for future study, training, and employment—all while remaining an integral part of the KingsGate community.
