MIT Trades Academy gives students the opportunity to step beyond the classroom and experience learning in authentic industry and tertiary environments. Through a partnership between KingsGate School and Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT), students can explore vocational pathways, develop practical skills, and gain valuable insights into industries they may wish to pursue in the future.

Students learn in industry-standard facilities, work alongside specialist tutors, and experience the expectations of tertiary education while still at school. Whether they are interested in trades, technology, healthcare, hospitality, or other vocational fields, MIT Trades Academy allows students to develop hands-on skills while building confidence and independence.

Alongside technical knowledge, students develop important workplace skills such as communication, teamwork, responsibility, punctuality, and professionalism. These transferable skills are highly valued by employers and help prepare students for apprenticeships, further study, and future employment opportunities.
