Introducing Gateway
Beginning in 2027, KingsGate School will fully engage in the Gateway Programme, providing senior students with exciting opportunities to connect their learning with real-world workplaces and future career aspirations.

Gateway is not a standalone pathway or an alternative to NCEA. Rather, it is a programme that sits alongside a student's regular school subjects, integrating structured workplace learning with their existing course of study. Students remain fully enrolled in their school programme while gaining valuable industry experience, developing workplace-ready skills, and achieving credits that contribute toward NCEA and, where appropriate, Vocational Pathways.

Through carefully selected workplace placements, students are given the opportunity to explore potential careers, build confidence, develop professional relationships, and gain a deeper understanding of how their learning applies beyond the classroom. Whether a student is considering further study, an apprenticeship, vocational training, or entering the workforce, Gateway helps them make informed decisions about their future.

At KingsGate, we see Gateway as another way of helping students discover their God-given gifts, explore their calling, and take meaningful steps toward the future God has prepared for them. By combining academic learning with authentic workplace experiences, Gateway equips students with both the practical skills and character needed to flourish in life beyond school
