Policy Statement

KingsGate School aims to keep parents/ caregivers and whānau fully informed on the progress and achievement of their children and to foster positive relationships between parents/ caregivers and whānau, child and teacher so that there is shared interest, concern and responsibility for children’s progress and achievement.

An annual programme of reporting includes three way chats (teacher, parent/caregiver/whānau, and students) and written reports for all children. Parent/caregiver and whānau requests for additional interviews will be met at a mutually agreed time to discuss points of interest or concern about a child’s progress and achievements.

School reports will give a clear, accurate and a precise account of a child’s progress and achievement in relation to their individual abilities.

Progress and achievement are reported against specific learning outcomes as defined in the local curriculum.

School reports are based on relevant information from observations of the child’s day to day work and attitudes, results from tests and surveys, data collected in assessment records, and overall teacher judgements.

KingsGate School will follow the regulations for reporting to parents/caregivers/whānau as set out in the Education and Training Act 2020
