Year 1 and 2 Work Book Standards

GENERAL GUIDELINES

  • Write in pencil (with the exception of Rainbow Writing)
  • Draw with Jovi Crayon

HAND WRITING - YEAR  1 (Progression as able)

We expect...

  • the date to be stamped.
  • the student to miss lines.
  • letters to be finger spaced.
  • the student to use a sharp pencil.
  • the work to be teacher assessed, developing over the course of the year to include student self-assessment.

HANDWRITING YEAR 2

We expect...

  • the students to write in lower case only and to write the name of the day only in Term 1.
  • the students to write in lower case and capitals and the name of the day only in Terms 2 and 3..
  • the students to write in lower case and capitals and the write the long date in term 4. 
  • the student to  miss lines.
  • letters to be finger spaced.
  • the student to use a sharp pencil.
  • the work to be teacher assessed, developing over the course of the year to include student self-assessment.

YEAR 1 AND 2: READING, PHONICS, SPELLING, TOPIC, INQUIRY, DEVOTION

We expect...

  • the short date to be stamped in Year 1 and written in Year 2.
  • the page to be folded or lines drawn to indicate columns if required.
  • the work to be teacher assessed, developing over the course of the year to include student self-assessment.

WRITING (Progression as able)

We expect...

  • the date to be stamped in the top corner for Year 1 students.
  • the students to write the short date by Year 2 e.g. 16.12.20
  • the student to miss line.
  • letters to be finger spaced.
  • the writing to start against the margin.
  • the student to use a sharp pencil.
  • the work to be teacher assessed, developing over the course of the year to include student self-assessment.

MATHS 

We expect...

  • the date to be stamped in the top corner for Year 1 students.
  • the students to write the short date by Year 2 e.g. 16.12.20
  • that worksheets will be glued flat into a maths  scrapbook (or cut to size and glued flat for A5 Books.)
  • all work to be completed in pencil 
  • all work to presented as tidy and neat as possible for age and stage/
  • that when using a quad-book in Year 2 (in Terms 3 and 4) that the rule of 1 number per square will apply.
  • the work to be teacher assessed. developing over the course of the year to include student self-assessment

Year 3 and Year 4 Work Book Standards

HAND WRITING

We expect...

  • the long date
  • the date is underlined in red pen using a ruler.
  • work is ruled off at the end with red pen and a ruler.
  • missed line.
  • finger spacing.
  •  a sharp pencil to be used.
  • self,  buddy and teacher assessment in the margin.

SPELLING

We expect...

  • a page ruled into six boxes.
  • the short date  written at the beginning of each day.
  • the number written to indicate what activity you have completed.

WRITING, DEVOTIONS AND READING ETC

We expect...

  • the short date written in the top left hand corner.
  • an underlined title if necessary in red pen using a ruler.
  • self, buddy and teacher assessment in the margin.
  • work to be ruled off in red pen using a ruler

MATHS

We expect...

  • only pencil will be used in maths book.
  • margins ruled (2 squares wide) if there are none. using a red pen and a ruler
  • the short date.
  • one number in each box.
  • the page of text book written (e.g p17).
  • numbers written down the margin on the inside.
  • working out to be shown down the left hand column first and then the right hand column.
  • answers and working out to be ticked in pencil or red pen.

Year 5 through to Year 8 Work Book Standards

MATHS

We expect

  • only pencil to be used for all working out.
  • the short date underlined in red pen using a ruler.
  • the learning intention written out in full.
  • the problem numbered in the margin.
  • the problem written one digit per square.
  • the margins ruled on the left hand side and middle of the page are one square in width and ruled on red pen using a ruler.
  • the days work will be ruled off in red pen using a ruler.

READING

We expect...

  • that Year 7 and 8's will be writing their responses in blue pen.
  • that Year 5 and 6's will write in pen or pencil at the teachers discretion. 
  • the full date to be written and underlined in red pen using a ruler.
  • the heading or title underlined in red pen using a ruler.
  • responses to reading activities numbered in the margin.
  • the days work will be ruled off in red pen using a ruler.

WRITING

We expect...

  • that Year 7 and 8's will be writing in blue pen.
  • that Year 5 and 6's will write in blue pen or pencil at the teachers discretion. 
  • the full date to be written and underlined in red pen using a ruler.
  • the learning intention (WALT) to be underlined in red pen using a ruler.
  • students to miss a line as they write for teacher, buddy and self assessment and marking.
  • the days work will be ruled off in red pen using a ruler
