2020 Memory Verses

Memorizing scripture helps us to know the truth and keeps us from error. In Mathew chapter 22  verse 29,  Jesus said to the Sadducees  when they were trying to trap him... 

 

" You are in error because you do not know the scriptures or the power of God..."  

 

It's good to memorize scripture and know a verse word for word, which is why we we learn a new passage of scripture every term that reflects our integrated Christian character theme throughout the curriculum. 


Term 1: 1st Corinthians 12:4-11

Week 1

V4: There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but they all come from the same Spirit. 

Week 2

V5: There are different ways to serve the same Lord, 

V6: and we can each do different things. 

Week 3

Yet the same God works in all of us and helps us in everything we do. 

Week 4

V7: The Spirit has given each of us a special way of serving others.

Week 5

V8: Some of us can speak with wisdom, while others can speak with knowledge, but these gifts come from the same Spirit. 

Week 6

V9: To others the Spirit has given great faith or the power to heal the sick

V10: or the power to work mighty miracles. 

Week 7

Some of us are prophets, and some of us recognize when God’s Spirit is present. 

Week 8

Others can speak different kinds of languages, and still others can tell what these languages mean. 

Week 9

V11: But it is the Spirit who does all this and decides which gifts to give to each of us. 

 


Term 2: Psalm 100 A Song of Thanks

Week 1

V1:  Earth, sing to the LORD!

Week 2

V2: Be happy as you serve the LORD!

Week 3

V2: Come before him with happy songs!

Week 4

V3: 3 Know that the LORD is God. He made us, and we belong to him.

Week 5

V3: We are his people, the sheep he takes care of.

Week 6

V4: Come through the gates to his Temple giving thanks to him.

Week 7

V4: Enter his courtyards with songs of praise.

Week 8

V4: Honour him and bless his name.

Week 9

V5:  The LORD is good! There is no end to his faithful love.

Week 10

V5: We can trust him forever and ever!


Term 3: Philippians 2:3-4

Week 1

V3: Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. 

Week 2

V3: Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 

Week 3

V4: not looking to your own interests 

Week 4

V4: but each of you to the interests of the others.


Term 3 : The Lord's Prayer

Week 5

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Week 6

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Week 7

Give us this day our daily bread.

Week 8

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

Week 9

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: 

Week 10

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.




Term 4 : Matthew 2:37-39

Week 2

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’

Week 3

38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 

Week 4

39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’”
