"To be a Christian Community of learning that nurtures young people towards
their full potential as servant leaders in the kingdom of God."
School Vision

KingsGate School Vision – the Vision Explained
At KingsGate School, our foremost aim is to develop in students a vibrant Christian character – the ability to be servant leaders who are worshipping, creating, problem-solving, challenging, achieving, risk-taking, sharing and celebrating and whose lives visibly display the concepts of te wairuatanga (spirituality) and mana (kudos/standing). Servant leaders who display these qualities, built on the foundations of relationship, respect, prayer, wisdom and education, will be living examples of the freedom and peace to be found through a life lived in relationship with God and bringing glory to Him.
The term relationship (whanaungatanga) encompasses the attributes of partnership found in the school – between parents and the school, between students and teachers, within peer groups and between the school and its community. These relationships will be evidenced by support – for the school (from its relationship with parents and community) and from the school (through acts of service in the community).
Respect (manaaki, aroha) includes the two attributes of respect for God (as evidenced by personal and corporate holiness) and respect for others (through considerate, compassionate behaviour). It also incorporates stewardship of the school and its assets, and stewardship of our community through acts of service.
The wisdom (hinengaro) we seek to exhibit in our words and actions is grounded in truth that is spoken in love and supported by encouragement. It also involves goal setting which reflects our individual abilities and seeks to fulfil God's plan for our lives.
Education (mātauranga) refers to a holistic education, addressing the social, emotional, physical and academic needs of each student. Such education must be relevant to the times in which we live and also provide students with avenues of service in the community. This will equip students to live in the world, while remaining true to the core Christian beliefs and values.
Prayer (karakia) is the underpinning foundation of all that goes on at KingsGate School. It is through prayer for the school and from the school that the other core values are able to be maintained and pursued in a manner that glorifies God. Prayer is essential for the success and growth of KingsGate School.
KingsGate School Vision – Supporting Scriptures
Ephesians 4:15-16
Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
Philippians 2:1-11
If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Romans 15:1-5
We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please his neighbour for his good, to build him up. For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: "The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me." For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
John 13:34-35
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
James 1:2-5
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
Colossians 3:12-17
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Romans 12:1-2
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
